Right Worshipful Alfred R. Crosby

Born August 31 1838 in Glover, Vermont R.W. Crosby. At the age of 23 he enlisted in M Company 1st New Hampshire Battery, to defend the Union in the War of the Rebellion. At the close of the war he moved to Attleboro and co-founded Smith and Crosby Jewelry Firm with William H Smith.

An active member of the community R.W. Crosby was a member of the school committee, Chairman of the finance committee, a director of Attleboro Savings Bank, and was a Representative in the State Legislature from 1897-1899.

He was a charter member of Ezekiel Bates Lodge as well as the lodges second Master in 1871. In 1888 he became the District Deputy Grand Master. Also a member of King Hiram Royal Arch Chapter, Attleboro Council of Royal and Select Masters, and Bristol Commandery of Knights Templar.

R.W. Crosby entered the Celestial Lodge above on April 7th 1923 and was laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery.
