April 17th 1820 \u2013 July 12th 1892<\/span><\/p>\n Father of Baseball<\/p>\n The rules of the modern game were thought to be based on the Knickerbocker Rules<\/a> developed by Brother Alexander Cartwright and a committee from his club, the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club<\/a>, in 1845, although this is also disputed. With the myth of Brother Abner Doubleday inventing baseball debunked, Cartwright was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame <\/a>as a pioneering contributor 46 years after his death.
