Brother Joseph Guillotin<\/strong><\/p>\n May 28th 1738 \u2013 March 26th 1814<\/p>\n Member of:<\/p>\n Founding member, Grand Orient of France Lodge of the Nine Sisters, Paris Master,<\/p>\n Concorde Fraternelle Lodge.Paris, 1719<\/p>\n Lodge of Fortitude and Old Cumberland #12<\/p>\n French physician, politician and Freemason who proposed on 10 October 1789 the use of a device to carry out death penalties in France, as a less painful method of execution. While he did not invent the guillotine, and in fact opposed the death penalty, his name became an eponym for it.
